World Anesthesia Day 2021

On Saturday, October 16, we celebrate World Anesthesia Day. This date celebrates the birth of anesthesia. On October 16, 1846, at the Massachusetts General Hospital, the first successful demonstration of use of ether on a patient took place. Since then, the field of anesthesia has grown dramatically but there’s always been one consistent goal: Safely and effectively managing patients’ pain.

That goal is why Ontario’s Anesthesiologists created and launched the Perioperative Pain Management Pathway. We believe that by providing easy access to clearly and concisely assembled surgical pain management best practices, we can optimize how patients experience pain. Additionally, better pain management aids in reducing the risk of opioid misuse, a vital step in the fight against the opioid epidemic.

SolvingPain and Ontario’s Anesthesiologists wish a wonderful World Anesthesia Day to anesthesiologists across the globe!
