A new paper published this month in the Canadian Journal of Anesthesia explores whether or not the implementation of a quality improvement bundle changed opioid prescribing practices for patients who had undergone a Cesarean section. “Evaluation of a quality improvement bundle aimed to reduce opioid prescriptions after Cesarean delivery: an interrupted time series study," is now available as an open access paper and is a great look at how, “interventions include(ing) opioid prescribing instructions in resident orientation, nursing and patient education, and standard electronic prescriptions” can impact pain management. This paper was co-authored by Dr. David Flamer, an Ontario anesthesiologist with Mount Sinai hospital.
